Anterior Root Canals

Anterior Root Canals

Previous treatment for decayed pulp was removing the entire tooth . We now have ways of treating these teeth to preserve the natural tooth.

Your visit will often begin by taking an x-ray, then the doctor will drill a small hole in the surface of the tooth, and begin removing the pulp. After the pulp is removed they will clean the space, shape it, and fill it with gutta percha (a rubber-like material that is biocompatible). Cement will then be applied to seal off the root canals, and a temporary filling will be placed over the site.

A final restoration or crown is required to be completed after endodontic treatment to ensure the preservation of the natural tooth.
